One such study appeared in an edition of the American Society for Microbiology’s journal, Applied and Environmental Microbiology

It showed that Bacillus thuringiensis, poliovirus 1, Escherichia coli, MS2 coliphage and Staphylococcus aureus all have the ability to be transferred from human skin to soft fabrics and other surfaces. Once on those surfaces, the bacteria and viruses continue to thrive and may be transferred back to human skin upon contact.

As we alluded to previously, it is not the only article that has ever indicated as such. Others have appeared in earlier editions of the Journal of Clinical Microbiology and the Journal of Burn Care Rehabilitation

The latter study indicated that some of the bacteria commonly found on fabrics have the ability to live for more than two months without a human host.
